GRADE 9
This position offers a salary range of $20.57 – $22.09/hour, with potential for advancement up to $31.59 based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $22.09/hour.

POSITION DUTIES
DHCD is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Security Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and facilities. The Security Officer will perform regular patrols, enforce access control, monitor surveillance systems, and respond appropriately to emergencies. This individual plays a critical role in maintaining a professional, welcoming, and secure atmosphere that aligns with DHCD’s mission.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Experience: Two years of experience in general services functions, office administration activities or in the receiving, storing, issuance, purchase or requisition of equipment, materials, and parts and supplies.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute additional experience as stated above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or public safety role, particularly in a government or office environment.
- Experience using surveillance monitoring systems or building access control technologies.
- Experience with emergency response protocols, including evacuation, lockdown, and active threat procedures.

EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position. BENEFITS
This is a part-time contractual position. Contractual employees working fewer than 30 hours per week (or fewer than an average of 130 hours per month) are not eligible for subsidised health benefits under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program. Accordingly, employees in this position are not eligible for State-subsidised medical or prescription coverage for themselves or dependents, nor are they eligible to enroll in State dental coverage or accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked at least 120 days within a 12-month period. Eligible leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
