Main Purpose of Job
This position will perform professional level work, at the Bachelor\’s Degree level, counseling clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders in a 24/7 residential treatment facility. This position shall provide a full continuum of care through individualized, group, family therapy, education, and development of healthy lifestyle skills. Alcohol and Drug Associate Counselors complete assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. This position routinely interacts with legal and community entities. This position does not supervise. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug within one year of meeting the experience requirements for this certification.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and the Code of Maryland Regulations, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require operating a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
