The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and professional Night Porter to join our Front of House team at The Royal Toby Hotel. This is a key position within the hotel, working independently in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment, ensuring outstanding guest service, safety, and smooth overnight operations. This role requires flexibility to cover additional shifts when needed, including holiday cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests and managing late check-ins/check-outs
  • Settling guest accounts and posting room charges
  • Handling guest enquiries in person and by telephone
  • Taking reservations using the Rezlynx booking system
  • Responding to guest requests and resolving issues calmly and professionally
  • Removing room service trays from corridors
  • Carrying out overnight security checks and ensuring guest safety
  • Acting as Fire Marshall and First Aider (full training provided)
  • Completing night audit procedures and end-of-day/month administrative tasks
  • Maintaining cleanliness in public areas, including reception, bar, and restaurant areas
  • Preparing the restaurant for breakfast service
  • Lighting the fire during winter months ready for guests in the morning
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring hotel supplies and equipment are readily available
  • Providing exceptional hospitality and ensuring guests’ expectations are exceeded

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in a hotel Night Porter role
  • A confident, professional and guest-focused manner
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT skills and the ability to manage overnight administrative tasks
  • The ability to work alone, use initiative and remain calm under pressure
  • A flexible approach to working additional shifts when required
  • The physical capability to undertake a hands-on role
  • Experience using the Rezlynx Reservation System (highly advantageous)
  • First Aid or Fire Marshall experience (training can be provided)
