About the Role

SDR is looking for a practical, reliable and proactive individual with some previous experience in general maintenance, repairs or a related trade. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you should be willing to learn, use your initiative and take pride in maintaining high standards.

Working alongside another Maintenance Operative, Home Managers, external contractors and our Head Office Estates team, you will help maintain our two care homes, carrying out general repairs, routine maintenance and addressing issues as they arise.

If you enjoy practical work, solving problems and working as part of a team to create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents, we would love to hear from you.

Maintain accurate electronic records of completed work, inspections and outstanding jobs.

Help ensure buildings, fixtures, fittings and communal areas remain safe, clean and presentable.

Work respectfully around residents and staff, minimising disruption wherever possible.

What We’re Looking For

You will ideally have:

Some previous experience in general maintenance, property repairs or a related hands‑on role.

Good practical problem-solving skills and a willingness to take on a variety of maintenance tasks.

An awareness of health and safety and the importance of working safely.

Basic IT skills and the ability to complete maintenance records using a computer or iPad.

Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

A reliable, flexible and proactive approach, taking pride in your work.

A relevant trade qualification or experience working in care homes, housing or other occupied buildings would be beneficial but is not essential.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, use their initiative and understand the importance of maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents.
