About the service: Badgers Wood is a welcoming residential care home in Drayton, just a few miles from Norwich, supporting up to 37 older people with both permanent and respite care. The home provides a comfortable and homely environment, with well-thought-out spaces including a library, retro lounge, seaside-themed room, café, and hair and nail salon—creating a relaxed and sociable atmosphere for residents. We are proud of our warm, “family feel,” where residents, families, and staff build positive relationships. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care with dignity and respect at its heart. Mealtimes are an important part of daily life, and we pride ourselves on providing nutritious, enjoyable food that residents look forward to.
About the role: As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the cook and wider team to deliver a high-quality dining experience for our residents. You will help ensure meals are prepared and served to a high standard while maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with basic food preparation
- Serving meals and drinks in a friendly and respectful way
- Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and organised
- Supporting stock rotation and safe storage of food
- Following food hygiene and health & safety standards at all times
- Helping create a positive, calm mealtime experience
- Supporting residents’ individual dietary needs where required
