We are known for sourcing and selling exceptional quality meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and specialist produce — the kind of ingredients used by chefs, loved by home cooks, and trusted by our loyal local customers. Our reputation is built on outstanding produce, proper craft, brilliant customer service and the energy of our team. We are now looking for a talented and passionate Butcher to join our meat department on a full-time basis. You will work closely with our Head Butcher, and be part of a skilled, knowledgeable and ambitious team.

The Role

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely cares about meat, produce, provenance and quality. You will be working with some of the best ingredients available, serving both retail and wholesale customers, preparing bespoke orders and helping to create a counter that feels exciting, abundant and inspiring. We are looking for someone with solid butchery experience, strong customer service skills and a real desire to keep learning and developing their craft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service to retail and wholesale customers
  • Prepare customer orders placed in store and online
  • Merchandise the meat counter, front windows and in-store dry ager to a high standard
  • Break down animals from carcass to retail cuts, or show the willingness and aptitude to learn
  • Maintain excellent standards of presentation, hygiene, quality and stock rotation
  • Use strong product knowledge to advise customers on cuts, cooking methods and preparation
  • Support with sausage making, recipe ideas and new product development
  • Help utilise trim and offcuts creatively and commercially
  • Work as part of a close, energetic and professional team
  • Contribute ideas that keep the counter fresh, seasonal and exciting

About You

You will need:

  • At least 1 year of butchery experience
  • A genuine passion for meat and high-quality produce
  • Strong customer service skills and a confident, friendly manner
  • The ability to multitask in a busy retail environment
  • Good attention to detail and pride in presentation
  • A willingness to learn, take direction and develop your skills
  • A positive, team-focused attitude
  • Creativity and interest in new products, sausages, marinades and seasonal ideas
