Commis Chef

We’re looking for a Commis Chef (part time) to join our team at Pizza on the Park - a popular Clifton restaurant with a big reputation for the best pizzas in Bristol, an exquisite array of innovative yet authentic Italian dishes, vibrant service and a buzzing atmosphere.

This is a part-time Commis Chef role (25 hours per week) and would suit a junior chef who’s got the basics down, brings a great attitude to the kitchen, and is ready to take the next step. As our new Commis Chef, you’ll be joining a supportive and experienced kitchen team where hard work is balanced with good vibes, proper hours and space to grow. We’re serious about food - everything’s made fresh and with care, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Your day-to-day will be varied, rewarding, and full of flavour.

The Commis Chef position at a glance:

• Location: Pizza on the Park, on Park Street. You’ll find a team that genuinely supports each other - we work hard, but we laugh a lot too
• Pay: £12.71 per hour (paid monthly)
• Hours: part time, 25 hours per week
• Weekly schedule: your 25 hours per week will be worked over 3-4 shifts each week (rota based, to include evenings and weekends)

What you’ll be doing as Commis Chef:

• Prep, cook, and plate up for our seasonal Italian menu – you’ll mainly be working in the pizza section, but possibly helping out with our innovative starters / small plates as well as pizzas and pastas.
• All menu items are prepped from fresh, locally sourced ingredients (with some fresh authentic Italian imports, too).
• Keep things tight and tidy during service
• Learn from experienced chefs and build your skills
• Bring the energy, passion and personality that makes the kitchen tick - we have an open kitchen, and so our cheffing team is present on the floor and a key part of our guests' experience

What you bring:

• Some experience in fresh food kitchens, prepping and cooking on service
• A friendly personality and a team-player attitude
• A calm, positive approach - even when the pass is on fire
• Ambition, a sense of humour, and a genuine love for food

This role is perfect for an existing Commis Chef ready to get stuck into a new challenge, or a strong Kitchen Assistant who's got the bug for kitchen prep and is looking for the next step up in their career. The part time hours may appeal to those who have other commitments, such as studies or other employment. We're looking for someone who is keen to join a forward-thinking, friendly kitchen where quality and creativity are the name of the game.
