We're Quarter - an independent hospitality group with four restaurants and four hotels in the heart of Clifton, Bristol. We're looking for some brilliant front of house team members to join our teams on a part time basis at two of our beautiful venues - No.4 Clifton Village and the Square, starting ASAP.

If you're passionate about hospitality, love being around people, and want to work somewhere you'll actually enjoy turning up to - we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

There are two part-time front of house team member positions available, one at the Square on Berkeley Square, BS8 and one at No.4 in Clifton Village, BS8. These are front of house positions covering a mix of floor and bar work - so expect to be on your feet, talking to guests, taking orders, serving drinks and making sure every customer leaves with a smile on their face.

Pay: £11.00 - £12.71 per hour, plus tips

Available hours:

  • The Square: 8 hours per week (worked over 1-2 shifts each week, rota-based)
  • No.4 Clifton Village: 12 hours per week (worked over 2-3 shifts each week, rota-based)

Let us know your preference when you apply. Do note as well that there will likely be overtime available on occasion (an option, not an obligation if you’d rather stick to the contracted hours!). Shifts will include evenings and weekends, and rotas are done weekly.

The Venues

The Square is Quarter's private members' club, nestled in the stunning surroundings of Berkeley Square - one of Bristol's most iconic Georgian landmarks. Home to a fine dining restaurant and a calendar packed with private events, The Square is a step up in formality without losing its warmth and sense of fun. If you're looking to develop your skills in a more polished, high-end environment and love the idea of working somewhere genuinely special, The Square is for you.

No.4 Clifton Village is a fine dining restaurant and events venue in Clifton Village, sharing a building with the Rodney Hotel. With a focus on the friendly but professional service and a range of guests - from wedding guests to those enjoying afternoon tea, this is a varied and fun venue to work in.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering warm, attentive and genuinely enjoyable service to every guest
  • Taking orders and serving food and drinks with confidence and care
  • Bar work - in the position at Racks, you’ll get to know our drinks menu and help prepare cocktails and beverages (note that the available position at the Square will be primarily restaurant / table-waiting focussed)
  • Keeping a sharp eye on your section and staying one step ahead
  • Contributing to the atmosphere - because great hospitality is about more than just the food

What We're Looking For

You don't have to have years of experience (a bit would help, though!), but you do need to have the right attitude and a winning personality. Here's what matters to us:

  • A genuine love of hospitality and making people feel welcome
  • Bags of personality and charisma - our guests remember the people as much as the food
  • Hard-working, organised and able to think on your feet
  • A team player with great communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in doing things properly

As this is a fixed term role we need someone who can jump in and get up to speed quickly – as such, some previous front of house experience is a bonus.

What's in it for you…

  • Excellent long term progression opportunities
  • Quarter Staff discount - this will give you a 20% discount in all our restaurants (plus a 50% discount at Racks between 5pm and 8pm on Fridays!) and will entitle you to fantastic friends and family rates within our hotels
  • Employee Assistance Programme (run by Hospitality Action) - 24/7 support, national discounts and other wellbeing advice
  • 50% off HowTheLightGetsIn festival tickets for you, your friends and family
  • The opportunity to work within an award winning independent hospitality company
  • Pension contribution
  • First Bus travel discount (10% off)
  • Cycle to work scheme + secure bike storage
  • Competitive Gym membership at Anytime Fitness on Queen's Road in Clifton and other local discounts including hairdressers, Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, Hospitality Rewards scheme and a very handy B&Q + Tradepoint discount
  • Regular company socials - Quarter holds regular parties for our staff to say thank you (with free food and a few free drinks!)
  • Free meals on shift - fuel for service!
  • Ongoing training and support
