Join Bristol's favourite independent hospitality group, Quarter, as Breakfast Manager (part time) at our much-loved Washington Guesthouse in Clifton. Are you an early riser with a passion for great food, great service, and leading a happy team? We're looking for a warm, organised, and hands‑on Breakfast Manager to take the reins of our morning service at The Washington Guesthouse - one of Clifton's most established and best‑loved guesthouses.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced supervisor ready to step up, or an existing manager looking for a new home within a supportive, independent group.

The Role:

  • Location: The Washington Guesthouse, Clifton, BS8
  • Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week, typically worked over 5 morning shifts (rota based to include weekends)
  • Pay: £13 per hour plus £1,200 annual on-target bonuses (paid monthly)
  • Typical shift timings: starting at approx. 6:15-6:30am (weekdays) or 7:15-7:30am (weekends), finishing early-mid morning.

You'll typically work 5 shifts per week, rota-based. Early starts mean early finishes - your afternoons and evenings are free!

About The Washington Guesthouse

Located on St Paul's Road in the heart of Clifton, The Washington is a busy and characterful guesthouse - known for comforting cooked breakfasts, cosy boutique charm, and a whole lot of smiles every morning. Think friendly, warm, home‑away-from-home vibes. You'll lead a small, welcoming team who genuinely care about making every guest's stay special.

What You'll Be Doing as Breakfast Manager

As Breakfast Manager, you'll take full ownership of breakfast service from start to finish - leading your team, delighting guests, and keeping everything running like clockwork. Your role will include:

  • Leading breakfast service each morning - supporting your team, greeting guests, and solving problems on the spot
  • Writing weekly rotas that balance your hours budget with forecasted guest numbers
  • Working closely with the breakfast chef(s) to make sure the menu delivers exactly what guests need (our breakfast is cooked fresh to order)
  • Keeping a close eye on guest satisfaction, service standards, and that all-important "wow" factor
  • Managing stock control across tableware, dry goods, and wet stock
  • Overseeing kitchen and dining area cleanliness, ensuring hygiene and Health & Safety standards are always met
  • Training new team members and giving your existing team constructive, supportive feedback
  • Leading departmental meetings, a monthly team presentation, and attending weekly hotel team meetings
  • Making sure you and your team are always guest‑ready - uniform, grooming, and standards on point
  • Keeping on top of admin - from KPI tracking to Safer Food Better Business logs

Who We're Looking For in our next Breakfast Manager

  • A friendly, outgoing, and confident leader who loves getting stuck in
  • Genuinely passionate about delivering great guest experiences
  • Someone who can juggle priorities, make quick decisions, and keep a cool head before most people's first coffee of the day
  • Comfortable with basic computer skills (Word & Excel) for rotas, admin, and logs
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in hospitality, front‑of‑house, or breakfast service is ideal - but a strong Supervisor ready to take the next step is very welcome to apply
