Pay: £12.71 - £14.71 per hour

Shifts: 4 on / 4 off (Full Time)

At Secure 24, you will support individuals experiencing acute mental health crisis. Not only during transport, but often while supporting them in a Section 136 suite (Place of Safety) for prolonged periods. This is a challenging, emotionally demanding role that requires patience, emotional regulation, and the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult environments.

What the role really involves

  • Transport individuals under the Mental Health Act or in crisis, working alongside police and mental health professionals to safely move patients between hospitals and from their home to a place of safety.
  • Remain with patients in a Section 136 suite, sometimes for several hours or the full shift.
  • Support individuals who may be distressed, withdrawn, agitated or emotionally overwhelmed.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while offering reassurance, calm presence and dignity.
  • Work in close partnership with clinical staff while following Secure24 procedures.
  • Use de-escalation skills and, when required, physical intervention techniques (fully trained).
  • Accurately record observations and handovers.
  • Work in a trained crew on two or more driving and escorting patients in our specially designed vehicles to ensure our patients' safety and security.
  • Living our 4 core values: Preserve Life, Prevent Harm, Promote Recovery, Provide Comfort.

This role is not always fast-paced or physically active. Much of the work is about emotional containment, vigilance and resilience.

Who this role is suited to

  • Are calm, patient, and emotionally resilient.
  • Can sit with distress without needing to “fix” it.
  • Are comfortable with unpredictability and uncertainty.
  • Can follow clear boundaries and professional expectations.
  • Understand this is not just a driving job.

If you are looking for constant action or minimal patient contact, this role may not be the right fit (and that’s okay!). If you have made it this far in the job advert, we want to hear from you!
