An established engineering company based in Kent is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Piping Design Engineer to join its growing design team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of industrial process plant projects from initial concept through to detailed design, supporting both new build and brownfield modifications across multiple sectors.
The Role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for producing high quality piping and mechanical designs while supporting projects from survey through to manufacture and installation.
Responsibilities include
- Producing piping layouts, equipment arrangement drawings and piping isometrics.
- Developing detailed 3D plant models using Autodesk Plant 3D.
- Designing mechanical equipment and components using Autodesk Inventor.
- Carrying out site surveys on existing industrial facilities.
- Capturing and processing laser scan data for retrofit and brownfield projects.
- Integrating point cloud information into Plant 3D models.
- Coordinating with structural and electrical disciplines.
- Carrying out model reviews and clash detection using Navisworks.
- Producing accurate construction drawings and fabrication information.
- Supporting installation teams and resolving technical design queries.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical or piping design.
- Strong Autodesk Plant 3D experience.
- Autodesk Inventor experience.
- Experience producing piping layouts, isometrics and equipment arrangement drawings.
- Industrial site survey experience.
- Experience using laser scanning equipment or working with point cloud data.
- Navisworks experience.
- Good understanding of piping design principles and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to customer sites.
- Ability to work full time from the Kent office.

- Autodesk Revit.
- Autodesk Recap.
- ISO 19650 knowledge.
- Experience within chemical, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, water treatment, energy or oil and gas sectors.
- Brownfield plant modification experience.
