What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan, prepare and cook a variety of meals that are appealing, nutritious, and centred around residents’ preferences and dietary requirements, following Marton Care Homes’ Good Food Guide and making amendments after authorisation from Head Office.
- Be active and encouraging, providing advice and guidance for the team to ensure a friendly, supportive working environment.
- Supervise and appraise the Kitchen Team.
- Interview applicants for kitchen vacancies.
- Understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health and Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health.
- Implement, monitor and maintain cleaning schedules that meet Food Safety Manual requirements, ensuring all kitchen areas are immaculately clean.
- Ensure sufficient food stocks are ordered and received from approved suppliers, and that stock rotation maintains optimum freshness.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in safe working order, report damage or faults to Handyman and Home Manager.
- Contribute to team meetings, assist the Home Manager with selection, interviewing, induction and ongoing development of catering staff.
- Understand residents’ needs, attend resident/relative meetings, monitor and assess resident satisfaction with catering service, and respond positively to ideas and feedback.
