Customer Service and Retail Volunteer - London Road

Are you looking to gain experience in a fun, friendly retail environment? Our shops are the perfect opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge whilst raising vital funds for Martlets.

Selling an eclectic mix of fashion, homeware and furniture, our stylish London Road store is the perfect place to unearth unique and unusual treasures. By giving just a few hours of your time you will help us maximise our sales by preparing stock, creating vibrant displays and serving our wonderful customers.

Where? 88-89 London Road, Brighton, BN1 4JF

When? Flexible but currently we are looking for Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays

Usual minimum commitment: 4-hour weekly morning or afternoon session

What you\’ll be doing:

• Greeting customers and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
• Providing assistance and asking customers if they need help or product recommendations
• Serving customers on the till, handling cash and card payments
• Talking about Gift Aid, explaining why it is important to the charity and helping customers sign up
• Keeping the shop floor looking great by tidying counters, refilling rails and organising displays
• Steaming and pricing clothes
• Culling or rotating stock
• Accepting and sorting donations, deciding what to sell in the shop, and what should go to a different location

Anything else I should know? This is a great chance to learn stock ordering, visual merchandising and customer service. We are able to pay travel expenses such as local bus fares and train tickets to help you access this volunteering role.
