A global developer of advanced vehicle safety technologies is seeking a highly capable Product Development and Applications Technician with a strong hybrid background in both vehicle electrics and practical electronics. This is a hands-on role requiring installation expertise, diagnostic capability, and the ability to support structured testing and prototype development.
Minimum Technical Qualifications (Mandatory Requirement)
- A Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automotive Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- A BTEC Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3 in an electrical or electronic discipline.
- An HNC or HND in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- A completed technical apprenticeship such as Auto Electrician, HGV Electrician, Defence Electronics Engineer, or Electronics Technician.
- A military technical trade qualification in electrical or electronic engineering.
- A Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering is beneficial.
Candidates without relevant electrical or electronic qualifications will not be shortlisted.
The Role
The technician will install wiring systems, sensors, modules, and electronic safety technologies on commercial vehicles and machinery. They will test, evaluate, verify, and validate new and existing electronic products. They will diagnose wiring or electronic faults and use diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. The technician will build, rework, and modify prototypes and wiring harnesses. They will support off-site field trials, collect technical data, and produce detailed test reports.
Required Experience
Candidates must bring a minimum of three to ten years of experience in automotive electrical work, HGV electrical work, defence electronics, plant machinery electrics, industrial electronics, telematics installation, ADAS installation, or field service engineering involving electronic equipment. They must be able to interpret wiring diagrams, troubleshoot circuits, and work effectively in workshop and outdoor test environments.

Suitable applicants may currently be working as Auto Electricians, HGV Electrical Technicians, Electronics Technicians, Field Service Engineers (electrical or electronic), Defence Electrical Technicians, Prototype Technicians, or Telematics/ADAS Technicians with diagnostic responsibilities.
