Martin House provides free specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people with complex and life-shortening conditions. Families from across West, North and East Yorkshire have access to our care 24/7, 365 days a year, including specialist doctors. Every year we care for more than 550 families, at the hospice, in hospital and in families’ own homes, as well as supporting around 200 bereaved family members.

As we open our new children’s wing and with the imminent opening of our new teenager and young adult facility, we are looking to expand our staff team. This is an amazing opportunity for enthusiastic and caring individuals to come and join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team in an unrivalled setting. We provide 1:1, holistic, family centred care, meaning this role is suitable for those who have a genuine interest in making a difference through the care they provide.

Hours of work: 37.5 or 25 hours a week (3/2 x 12.5 hour shifts per week), with a requirement to work unsocial hours including evenings, weekends, and nights.

Requirements:

  • Committed to Martin House’s values – Excellence, Respect, Integrity and Compassion.
  • Prior experience of working in a care setting, preferably with children and young adults. Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs would be advantageous.
  • Outstanding care skills with a focus on empathy, compassion, and active listening.
  • Proficiency with a range of IT systems.
  • Ability to document clear and concise details of care routines and practice.
  • Good level of education including GCSEs (grade 4/C or above) including English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Will have access to a vehicle for business use and able to drive a Martin House Pool car.
