Martin House provides free specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people with complex and life‑shortening conditions.

Families from across West, North and East Yorkshire have access to our care 24/7, 365 days a year, including specialist doctors.

Every year we care for more than 550 families, at the hospice, in hospital and in families’ own homes, as well as supporting around 200 bereaved family members.

At Martin House, we believe that children, young people and families facing life‑limiting conditions deserve access to compassionate, evidence‑informed psychological support that helps them navigate some of life’s most challenging experiences.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Psychologist to join our Family Support Team.

Working alongside the Head of Family Support and a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will help embed psychologically informed and trauma‑informed practice across our services, contributing to the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, families and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence clinical practice through consultation, formulation, supervision, teaching and service development.

You will support colleagues to understand and respond to complex emotional and psychological needs, whilst helping to shape innovative, evidence‑based approaches to family support and bereavement care.

As part of a hospice committed to excellence, collaboration and continuous learning, you will play a key role in promoting psychological thinking, strengthening clinical decision‑making and supporting a culture of reflective, compassionate care.

Our Ideal Candidate will

You will be a qualified and HCPC‑registered Clinical, Counselling or Health Psychologist with substantial experience of providing psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within multidisciplinary settings.

You will bring advanced consultation skills and the confidence to support colleagues working with complex and emotionally demanding situations.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about psychologically informed and trauma‑informed care, and who enjoys working collaboratively with professionals from different disciplines to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

You will be able to communicate complex psychological concepts in a way that is accessible, supportive and meaningful to others.

The successful candidate will be reflective, compassionate and committed to professional excellence.

You will have experience of teaching, supervision and workforce development, alongside a genuine enthusiasm for supporting service improvement and developing innovative approaches to care.

What you'll bring

  • A doctoral qualification in Clinical, Counselling or Health Psychology and current HCPC registration.
  • Significant experience of complex psychological assessment, formulation and case management.
  • Experience of teaching, training, consultation and supervision.
