Martin House provides free specialist palliative care to babies, children and young people with complex and life‑shortening conditions. Families from across West, North and East Yorkshire have access to our care 24/7, 365 days a year, including specialist doctors. Every year we care for more than 550 families, at the hospice, in hospital and in families’ own homes, as well as supporting around 200 bereaved family members.
We have recently completed our transformational £21.9 million redevelopment project, creating a purpose‑built hospice with enhanced facilities designed to meet the needs of children and young people with life‑limiting conditions for years to come. Our hospice now provides modern, welcoming spaces for families accessing respite, symptom management and end‑of‑life care. These improved facilities ensure we can continue delivering personalised, specialist care in an environment specifically designed to support children, young people and their families across Yorkshire.
As we open our teenage wing, we are looking to expand our team of Care Team Nurses. As a valued member of our award‑winning and vibrant clinical team, you will provide palliative care, alongside planned and emergency short breaks, both within the hospice and in the community. You will benefit from the opportunity to deliver 1:1 nursing care while working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including therapists, family support professionals, and a 24‑hour medical team.

Qualifications
- Nursing qualification such as children’s nurse/learning disability nurse
- Active NMC Registration with no restrictions on practice
- Experience of working in a care setting, preferably with children and young adults
- Outstanding care skills with a focus on empathy, compassion, and active listening
- Professional experience of administering medicines in a care setting
- Proficiency with a range of IT systems
- Will have access to a vehicle for business use and able to drive a Martin House Pool car
It would be advantageous to have prior experience of working in a palliative care setting and/or nursing children with life limiting conditions, including children with special educational needs.
