As Estimating Assistant, you will support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for construction projects across Northern Ireland. You will request and review supplier/subcontractor quotations, assist with pricing, and compile tender documentation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tender Support & Pricing
    • Assist in the preparation of tenders for a range of projects (e.g., residential, commercial, fit‑out, civil engineering, refurbishment).
    • Carry out reviews from drawings, specifications and schedules.
    • Help identify scope gaps, risks and queries within tender documents.
  • Supply Chain & Subcontractor Enquiries
    • Prepare and issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Compare quotations received, check compliance with the tender scope, and highlight exclusions/qualifications.
    • Maintain relationships with local suppliers/subcontractors and keep records of pricing history.

Qualifications & Training

  • 5 GCSEs at Grades A‑C (or equivalent) to include English and Mathematics.
  • Full and valid UK driving licence to enable travel to site as required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year’s recent experience working as an estimating administrator or assistant.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pricing sheets, basic formulas).
  • Strong communication skills; confident in liaising with external parties.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail; ability to maintain a high level of accuracy at all times.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage own tasks within an agreed scope of work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the business.
  • Great work ethic & attitude.
  • Valid CSR card.
  • Previous experience working in the construction industry.
  • Experience of using estimating software.
  • Understanding of local NI supply chain and pricing.
