To manage and design the structural aspects of projects, including but not limited to, structural steel frames, equipment support structures, skid assemblies, foundations, and load‑bearing systems, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Development of structural steel design packages including plans, sections, and details
- Creation of structural calculation packages for steel members, connections, anchorage, and lifting points
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to validate structural integrity under static and dynamic loading conditions
- Utilize RISA3D for structural modeling and analysis
- Review and approve structural fabrication drawings for construction
- Coordinate structural requirements with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams
- Provide stamped engineering drawings and calculations where required, including application for reciprocity for required states
- Support manufacturing and field service during fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Adhere to company and client engineering standards and procedures
- Communicate with contractors and customers using clear verbal and written communication
Requirements
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET Accreditation)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required with ability to stamp drawings
Skills
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, steel design methodologies, and applicable codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE)
- Advanced proficiency in RISA3D
- Experience performing and interpreting finite element analysis
- Ability to develop comprehensive structural calculation packages
- Working knowledge of structural steel connection design
- Proficiency in reading and reviewing fabrication drawings
- Sheet metal working practices and evaluation techniques
- Expertise with welding codes such as AWS D1.1/D1.1M
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor preferred but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
