Martin Energy Group (MEG) is expanding our Project Management team to support significant growth in genset packaging programs. With 300+ units sold and scheduled to be packaged and delivered over the next several years, this role leads multiple concurrent equipment packaging projects from order handoff through design coordination, procurement, fabrication, quality, shipment, and closeout. The Project Manager (PM) owns schedule, communication, and execution across internal teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and field service) and external partners (OEMs, vendors, and customer stakeholders). This role is accountable for delivering units on time, within scope, and aligned with MEGβs safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution and Delivery: Manage a portfolio of genset packaging projects from kickoff through shipment and closeout. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and deliverable trackers for each unit/program. Drive cross-functional execution across engineering, purchasing, fabrication, wiring, testing, and shipping. Coordinate internal production slots and capacity planning to meet multi-year delivery commitments. Anticipate constraints (long-lead items, resourcing, design approvals) and implement mitigation plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned OEM/customer stakeholders, providing proactive updates and issue resolution. Lead kickoff meetings, weekly status calls, milestone reviews, and post-delivery lessons learned. Ensure requirements, specifications, and expectations are captured, communicated, and managed throughout execution.
- Scope, Change Control, and Commercial Support: Maintain clear scope definition and manage scope changes through a documented change control process. Support commercial alignment by coordinating pricing inputs, documenting changes, and ensuring proper approvals. Track risks, assumptions, and decisions; elevate impacts to schedule/cost early and clearly.
- Procurement and Vendor Coordination: Partner with Supply Chain to identify long-lead components and release procurement packages on time. Coordinate vendor submittals, deliveries, expediting, and quality documentation. Ensure purchased equipment and fabricated assemblies meet specification and schedule.
- Quality, Documentation, and Compliance: Ensure unit documentation is complete and accurate (drawings, BOMs, manuals, test records, shipping documents). Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs), punch lists, and corrective actions as required. Promote and enforce MEG safety expectations across internal work and vendor activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify repeatable issues and implement standard work to improve throughput, communication, and quality. Support program-level reporting for leadership: unit status, forecasted delivery dates, constraints, and key performance indicators.
Success Measures
- Units delivered on or ahead of committed dates with minimal expedite cost and minimal rework.
- Clear and consistent stakeholder communication; no surprises.
- High-quality documentation packages and smooth FAT/shipping readiness.
- Risks surfaced early with actionable mitigation plans.
- Improved internal execution through strong coordination and standardization.
Requirements
- Qualifications Required: 3+ years of Project Management experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, EPC, power generation, packaged systems, or related fields. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities. Working knowledge of project scheduling, procurement coordination, and production/manufacturing workflows. Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) with comfort presenting status and leading meetings. Proficiency with common PM tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet Excel, ERP/MRP systems).
- Preferred: Experience with power generation, CHP, engine/genset packaging, control panels, balance-of-plant skids, or similar industrial packaging. Experience working with OEM customers and/or structured customer quality/documentation requirements. PMP, CAPM, or equivalent training. Technical degree (Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, or similar).
Core Competencies:
- Ownership mindset and follow-through
- High organization and attention to detail
- Ability to drive accountability without formal authority
- Strong problem-solving and risk management
- Customer-first communication and relationship management
- Comfortable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
Work Environment and Travel: Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment. Periodic travel (estimated 10-25%, depending on program needs) for stakeholder meetings, vendor visits, factory acceptance tests, and job site coordination. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs and navigate an industrial production environment (PPE required in shop areas).
