We are seeking a committed individual with a heart for the care of older people and a keenness to deliver our The Way We Care Programme, which encompasses our approach to the care of residents at Emmaus House in North Yorkshire. The Wellbeing & Dementia Lead will oversee the building of relationships between staff and those we care for, prioritising a family model of care throughout the home. This role is ideal for an upbeat and enthusiastic person who is interested in engaging with our older residents and staff to promote The Way We Care.

Responsibilities

  • Care for residents by providing a loving and caring environment and upholding the Christian ethos of the home.
  • Become the in-house expert in caring for people living with dementia (full training and ongoing support provided).
  • Embrace the Society's The Way We Care Model, addressing Mind, Body and Spirit – the Whole Person.
  • Take responsibility for The Way We Care Programme, developing staff competency and practising person-centered care that recognises spiritual, emotional and physical needs.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment where staff feel valued, listened to, and empowered to contribute ideas that enhance residents’ lives.
  • Prioritise and support the spiritual life of the home for residents and staff, respecting individual beliefs and ways of expressing faith.

About you

  • Caring or nursing experience or an expert-by-experience in caring for someone living with dementia.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading teams.
  • Empathy and enjoyment in working with older people.
  • Ability to support individuals with unique and diverse needs.
  • Positive, open and warm personality.
  • Desire to make others happy with genuine love for all people and a positive outlook.
  • Ability to be a companion and friend to all residents, with or without dementia.
  • Ability to work with teams and individuals and be willing to take on any task to provide excellent care.
  • Well-organised, adaptable and practical.
