The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Group VP of Human Resources, you will step into an influential advisory role with a clear mandate: to align people strategy directly with business objectives across designated corporate and engineering areas. Working 3 days per week, you will act as a trusted confidant and strategic partner to senior leaders, driving organisational effectiveness, proactive change management, and heightened employee engagement.
This is a premier fixed-term opportunity for a data-driven, commercially minded HR professional. In this position, you will be given the autonomy to shape workforce plans, manage complex employee relations, and deputise for Senior HR Business Partners where required. It is an ideal role for a senior practitioner who thrives on immediate operational impact, clear data analytics, and steering businesses through transformational change.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic HR Business Partnering: Build robust relationships with senior leaders and managers to deeply understand business priorities and translate them into actionable, localised people plans.
- Organisational Design & Change: Provide expert guidance on workforce planning, succession frameworks, business transformation, and structural change initiatives.
- Complex Case Management: Act as the lead consultant on complex employee relations cases, ensuring consistent policy application and strict compliance with UK employment law.
- Data-Driven Insight & Dashboards: Analyse workforce data and trends to build, maintain, and enhance HR dashboards, empowering managers to interpret key metrics (such as absence, attrition, and engagement) to drive proactive remedial actions.
- Manager Self-Service & Coaching: Champion manager self-service through the optimized use of HRIS tools and guidance, while actively coaching leadership teams on independent employee relations handling and team development.
- Strategic Projects & Policy Integration: Support the development, refinement, and implementation of high-priority HR policies and strategic people projects aligned with the Martin-Baker mission.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven HRBP Experience: Substantial, practical experience operating as an HR Business Partner within a complex corporate structure or busy operational function.
- Employment Law & ER Mastery: A comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law with a proven track record of independently managing complex employee relations cases.
- Analytical & Systems Literacy: High proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and insight generation using core tools (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word) alongside direct experience utilizing modern HRIS platforms.
- Stakeholder Management & Influencing: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to confidently challenge, coach, and influence senior leaders and multi-disciplinary management teams.
- Manufacturing or Engineering Sector Insight (Desirable): Prior experience navigating the operational rhythms and compliance requirements of a high-integrity manufacturing or complex engineering setting is a distinct advantage.
- Analytics Tool Development (Desirable): Prior experience developing bespoke HR dashboards or utilising specialised data analytics/coaching tools.
