The Opportunity As a Senior Systems Engineer and Team Lead, you'll join a collaborative, cross-functional Systems Integrated Product Team, working alongside electronics, software, mechanical engineering and analysis specialists to develop highly complex electromechanical systems. You'll play a key role in leading systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition and system architecture through to verification, validation and production support. Alongside your technical responsibilities, you'll provide technical leadership within the Systems Engineering team, helping to prioritise activities, support engineering decisions and develop the capability of engineers across the team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of aerospace programmes, where no two projects are the same. You'll tackle complex systems engineering challenges while playing an important role in both delivering innovative products and supporting the development of the engineers around you.
What You'll Do
Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across assigned programmes and work packages, supporting programme delivery, prioritisation and technical decision-making. Provide technical leadership and guidance to Systems Engineers, including mentoring, coaching, design reviews and support in resolving complex engineering challenges. Develop and manage system requirements and architecture, ensuring customer, regulatory and internal standards are achieved throughout the product lifecycle. Lead technical analysis and investigations, including feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, system simulations, modelling and test correlation for complex electromechanical systems. Support the design, integration, verification and validation of electromechanical systems, including system-level software functionality and safety-critical applications where required. Promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement, collaborating with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams while representing Systems Engineering during technical and programme activities. What We're Looking For
Extensive systems engineering experience within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated environment, with a strong understanding of the full product lifecycle. Proven technical leadership experience, with the ability to lead, influence, mentor and develop engineers within a multidisciplinary environment. Strong systems engineering and analytical capability, including requirements management, system architecture, technical investigations, modelling and engineering analysis. Experience producing and reviewing complex technical documentation, including system specifications, engineering reports and verification evidence. Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and engage confidently with customers, stakeholders and engineering teams. Degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline, with knowledge of software development and systems modelling techniques; Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and UML/SysML experience desirable.
Desirable Understanding of UML and/or SysML. Experience developing simulation models for electromechanical systems (EMS). Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Previous formal technical or team leadership experience. Experience within aerospace, defence or other highly regulated industries.
