What You’ll Be Doing
Martin-Baker is the world’s leading manufacturer of ejection seats, helping to protect aircrew flying in the most advanced military aircraft. Our mission is simple – to save aircrew lives.
Join us on this mission as a Technical Author working in the Technical Publications Department at the Denham site.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will gain a great understanding of our products and how they are used, to enable you to write Technical Publications for our customers, and Acceptance Test Procedures and Build Plans for our Manufacturing Teams. You will be researching technical requirements for publications referencing engineering drawings, CAD models, production standards, processes, industry Specifications, Logistic Support Analysis records and related component hardware proving using appropriate methodologies. Identify and liaise with relevant departments to resolve technical issues and requirements.
You will identify, define and specify illustration requirements and usage to meet industry standards. Undertake hands-on facilitation, demonstration and validation using appropriate equipment, tooling and engineering techniques. Proofread documents prior to passing data into quality systems meeting task deadlines and complying with data management processes.
Characteristics & Skills
- Know how to listen and communicate effectively with others.
- Experience of desktop publishing software e.g. FrameMaker.
- Ability to work with new Publishing production tools and processes including SGML, XML and DITA.
- Proven aerospace engineering experience, preferably in a Military context.
- Committed to the highest standards.
- Have an eye for detail and getting things right.
- Share and demonstrate the Martin-Baker Values.
- Highly developed skill in applying the English Language, including Simplified English.
- Practical experience of mechanical engineering and technical authorship.
Education & Qualifications
- City & Guilds 5360 Part 1 & 2 (Engineering, Technical Communication and Authoring) or equivalent.
