Join us on this mission as an NDT Level 2 Technician within the friendly and supportive Operations department, based in Chalgrove, Oxfordshire.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Level 2 X-Ray Technician role is a specialist opportunity, and the scope of the position has a significant impact within the Operations team. Key responsibilities include:

  • X-raying of cartridge assemblies and rocket motors, viewing and assessing to ensure all components meet stringent acceptance criteria in accordance with company procedures.
  • Leak Testing of cartridges using a mass spectrometer to agreed test limits.

The Radiography Department is continuing to grow and we are excited to be receiving our first of two Computed Tomography (CT) machines to aid us in our mission to provide the very best quality product to our customers.

As a Level 2 X-Ray Technician, you’ll input and conform to risk assessments, explosive safety processes and procedures, and support with audit and safety standards. This role has a focus on health and safety procedures, so experience of working in similar environments would be beneficial.

You’ll get involved with continuous improvement tasks, always ensuring that NDT and X-ray have appropriate tools, resources and technologies to deliver pyro requirements for Martin-Baker. Part of this role will support the Cell Leader within the Operations team to document, support and learn competencies and skills to agreed plans.

The role will enable you to collaborate and work with other teams across the Martin-Baker organisation, including Production Engineering, Production Control, Stores and various specialist teams based at the Denham site.

Characteristics & Skills

  • Seasoned experience within similar NDT / X-ray roles.
  • Proven capabilities of using digital X-ray systems.
  • ASNT/PCN Level 2 certification.
  • Proven self-inspection experience and understanding/interpretation of relevant test ATP, QAI and relevant X-ray techniques.
  • Comfortable working under time pressures to balance priorities to agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent team player and communication skills.
  • Level 3 qualifications advantageous (not essential).
