Martin-Baker is the world’s leading manufacturer of ejection seats, helping to protect aircrew in the world’s most advanced military aircraft. Our mission is simple – to save aircrew lives.

Join us on this mission as a Commodity Manager within the Sourcing team, focused on supporting a range of business portfolios. An element of this role at the start will involve supporting specific business areas on a maternity cover basis, after this period such business areas are likely to change. This position is being hired on a permanent basis.

You’ll join a highly professional team who has successfully built a compelling reputation for building winning relationships with suppliers and stakeholders across Martin-Baker.

This role has varied responsibilities, providing an interface with supply chains to facilitate continued production for existing items, ensuring that new product introduction is managed to minimise any future production challenges, supporting practical manufacturing schedules for related equipment with the operational teams, internal colleagues from programmes / project management, production control and account managers from the sourcing function. You’ll have a completely flexible approach to the business areas that you’ll support, when responding to business requirements and procurement processes, driving value through delivering collative and innovative sourcing strategies with suppliers located both in the UK and internationally.

This role is based at our Denham campus; we offer hybrid working after six months of employment.

Characteristics & Skills

  • Seasoned supply chain and sourcing/procurement experience of working within regulated control environments such as defence, aerospace or medical manufacturing.
  • Be a methodical problem solver, committed to the highest standards.
  • Know how to communicate, listen and negotiate effectively with others.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proven abilities to interpret procurement data and insights.
  • Have an eye for detail and getting things right, showing concentration and focus.
  • Be curious, having enthusiasm and interest for engineering.
  • Share and demonstrate the Martin-Baker Values.

You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with experts who will help you to obtain a wide understanding of an engineering business, you’ll develop new skills and gain strong industry experience.
