About Martello

Martello is making homebuying better. We provide instant, intelligent environmental search reports that help conveyancers move quickly and give buyers clarity and confidence. We’re a growing remote-first startup with 18 months of high growth revenue and a lean, talented team.

Our platform combines GIS data, automation, data science, AI/ML, and legal/environmental expert knowledge to simplify one of the most outdated and important parts of the homebuying process. We’re proud to be the change in an industry that affects millions, and we’ve only just got started.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Product Delivery Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our product work. This is a hands-on role that combines coordination, planning and team alignment to keep us moving fast and delivering high-quality outcomes. You’ll be the bridge across tech, data, GIS, sales, design and marketing, making sure the right things get delivered at the right time, and in the right way.

You’ll report to our co-founder CPTO and work closely with our co-founder CEO, engineers, analysts and designers. You’ll help shape how we work, not just what we build.

This is our first senior product hire, so you’ll have real ownership and the chance to lay the foundations for how we deliver product as we scale. We are ideally looking for someone who we can invest in to develop them over a 1-2 year time period into a strategic role.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Coordinating work across multiple disciplines: engineering, GIS, data, design, sales and marketing
  • Time-boxing, scoping and sequencing product initiatives so we deliver the highest value work, at the right time
  • Driving delivery through to release by keeping momentum high, helping unblock the team, and making sure releases are well planned and communicated.
  • Owning Cycle Rituals such as running kickoffs, reviews, team check-ins and cool downs (we work in Basecamp and have shaped our own version of Ryan Singer’s Shape Up)
  • Collaborating on go-to-market: working with the CCO and marketing to ensure new features land well with users and customers
  • Improving how we deliver: helping us get better work cycle by work cycle by evolving tools, rituals, handoffs and coordination

What we’re looking for

  • A strong delivery-focused product person with 8+ years of relevant and senior experience
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional work in a fast-paced tech environment (ideally in a startup/scale up).
  • Clear and concise communicator who brings alignment without adding unnecessary process
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and quick to bring structure when it’s needed
  • Experience running product rituals (Shape Up or similar) and using async-first tools like Basecamp.
  • Familiarity with terminology around the development teams tools, such as Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL, and an understanding of working with GIS and other data-rich systems
  • Bonus: experience with geospatial, legal-tech, AI, and data-heavy products

Why this role is exciting

  • You will be the most senior product person in the company
  • You’ll help shape how product delivery happens at Martello from the ground up
  • You’ll work with a smart, friendly and deeply capable team who care about doing things properly
  • Your work will have real impact, making homebuying faster, safer and more transparent for thousands of people
  • You’ll have the freedom to make decisions, suggest changes and get things done

Our values

  • Do the right thing : We prioritise what’s right for our team, our customers and the homebuyers they serve.

  • Push boundaries : Challenge old ways of working and find better ones.
  • Be thorough and conscientious : Details matter and we take pride in doing things properly.
  • Give a damn about our users : Their experience guides every decision we make.
  • Always room for improvement : There’s always a way to do better and we’re never done trying.

Our values aren’t aspirational, they’re the way we work, the way we make decisions, and how we measure success.

  • A 30 minute technical interview in the form of one of the following: Case Study discussion; Live Product Strategy chat; Product Critique or Tear-Down; Portfolio Deep Dive. Immediately followed by 15 minutes to reflection.
  • Structured interview : 45 minute two-way discussion with our Founder CEO, CCO and our only existing product delivery manager in Martello. We will be discussing values, experience and scenario-based questions.
  • Meet the team : This is a chance for you to meet the team that you would be working with in an informal coffee chat, and possibly an online group crossword if the mood takes you there.
