Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international shipments (containers and bulk vessels) with overseas partners and logistics providers.
- Ensure end-to-end management of shipping logistics, including timely dispatch, documentation, and delivery.
- Prepare and manage essential documentation: bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
- Oversee customs compliance and international trade regulations.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with customs agents, port authorities, and freight carriers to facilitate efficient clearance and handling.
- Negotiate service contracts and freight rates with carriers and forwarders.
- Address and resolve any shipment delays, damages, or discrepancies.
- Deliver accurate quotes and freight solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Maintain logistics databases and ensure accurate shipment records.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience in freight forwarding, import logistics, or customs clearance.
- Solid understanding of international shipping regulations and documentation processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of customs procedures and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with ERP or logistics systems (e.g., Sage, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Strong multitasking, organisational, and time management skills.
- Confident communicator with strong relationship-building abilities.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Incoterms and trade compliance.
- Industry certifications (IATA, FIATA, CILT, or similar).
- Additional language skills relevant to international trade (optional but beneficial).
- Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to ports, warehouses, or client locations.
- Some flexibility may be required for out-of-hours availability depending on global shipment schedules.
