Marston’s is one of the UK’s largest and most loved pub companies, operating more than 1,300 pubs, bars and hotels across the UK. We’re now looking for a great General Manager to lead one of our Grandstand pubs – high‑energy, sports‑led venues built for atmosphere, great food and unforgettable moments.
About the pub – We don’t just show sport, we live it. A major investment is set to transform The Rushley in early 2027, introducing Marston’s Grandstand concept to the pub – a bold new sports‑led proposition built around big screens, standout viewing, great food and a welcoming community atmosphere. Designed so every big game feels special, while remaining a place where families and locals feel at home, this investment will elevate The Black Beauty into a true hub for the area.
With huge screens, top‑tier entertainment, great food & drink, and an unbeatable atmosphere, our Grandstand pubs are built for people who live and breathe live sport. From matchdays to live music and big sporting moments, Grandstand pubs are where local communities and fans come together.
Located in Mansfield, The Rushley currently trades at an average of £18,000 per week in net sales. This site benefits from the thriving local area and already boasts a strong community trade and a well‑established function business, with wakes & private bookings delivering strong room hire income and additional food & drink sales.
Grandstand pubs are high‑energy, sports‑driven community hubs created for big occasions, live sports and social experiences. With enhanced screens, sound and layouts, they deliver standout atmosphere from matchdays and live entertainment to relaxed, family‑friendly dining. These are fast‑paced pubs where sport, food and drink come together to drive strong performance and local loyalty.
We’re looking for a commercially focused operator who’s comfortable leading busy services, building energy through events and atmosphere, and delivering great guest experiences. Previous food experience is essential, with branded food experience a strong advantage. Management accommodation is available in the form of a 3 bedroom flat directly above the pub.
What you get from us: You’ll be joining an award‑winning local pub company that puts people first, lives by people‑led values, and offers real opportunities to advance your career – with genuine benefits that include:
- Additional earnings potential through bonus and incentive schemes
- Employer funded Private Medical Insurance
- Pension scheme with additional Life Assurance and Group Income Protection cover included
- Cheers Reward & Recognition Platform (earn points to spend for living and breathing our values & behaviours and access high street retailer discounts)
- Health screening discounts
- Long Service Awards
- Gym Discounts
- 24‑hour GP helpline
- Mortgage advice and support
- On‑site accommodation
- Award winning training and development
Have you got what it takes? Being a General Manager is demanding – but it’s far more than just a job. Brimming with energy and ideas, you’ll be able to lead from the front in a format‑led brand environment where it matters most, and constantly look for new ways to delight guests and grow the business.
As a General Manager, you’ll:
- Care about finding, developing and engaging your team
- Be accountable for running all aspects of your pub
- Be passionate about doing the right thing for your people and your guests
- Think differently about driving sales, atmosphere and growth
- Create a buzz by delivering memorable experiences
