A leading sports construction contractor is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, delivering civils and groundworks projects across multiple sites. This is a senior commercial role with a strong focus on procurement, cost management, subcontractor control, and commercial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Senior Quantity Surveyor duties across civils, groundworks, enabling works, landscaping, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
- Procurement of materials and subcontractor packages, including groundworks subcontractors.
- Commercial management of live projects, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Negotiation of subcontractor accounts, pricing, terms, rebates, and multi-project agreements.
- Assessment, agreement, and approval of subcontractor valuations and final accounts.
- Support tendering and estimating at pre-construction stage, ensuring accurate cost plans and budgets.
- Monitoring project spend against budgets and identifying cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
- Liaison with project managers, contracts managers, and buying teams to support programme delivery.
- Supplier and subcontractor performance management, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Mentoring and supporting Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Junior Quantity Surveyors.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Quantity Surveyor working on civils and groundworks projects.
- Strong background in commercial management, procurement, and subcontractor management.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations, and valuations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, budgets, and cost reporting.
- Proficient in Excel, job costing systems, and commercial software.
Package & Benefits
- £70,000 – £75,000 basic salary
- Discretionary bonus based on company performance
- 25 days annual leave (6 days taken at Christmas) plus bank holidays
- £5,000 car allowance or company vehicle
Working Pattern
- Hybrid - 3-4 days per week in the office
