Network Security Operations Engineer (3 Month Contract)
Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week in Northampton

Overview
We’re seeking a hands-on Network Security Operations Engineer (NetSecOps) to support a major Network Access Control (NAC) rollout and LAN modernisation programme across a large, distributed retail estate. You’ll work closely with the Networks team to strengthen access control, segmentation, and operational security at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and support a multi-phase NAC implementation
- Design, configure, test, and deploy NAC policies, authentication, and segmentation
- Support LAN migrations and switch refreshes across multiple sites
- Lead end-to-end testing (functional, failover, performance)
- Develop operational processes, documentation, and runbooks
- Provide SME guidance on identity-based and zero-trust network access
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in NetSecOps / Network Security Engineering in enterprise environments
- Hands-on with NAC platforms (e.g. Fortinet, Aruba ClearPass, Forescout)
- Expertise in 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, device profiling, certificates
- Solid LAN/WAN knowledge: switching, routing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, BGP/OSPF
- Experience with large-scale LAN migration or refresh programmes
- Knowledge of segmentation, firewalls, and zero-trust networking
Desirable
- Experience in large retail or multi-site environments
