Are you passionate about designing innovative, sustainable, and safer transport solutions? We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic transportation and active travel team, based in either our Slough or London office.
You’ll be required to work 3 days per week in a Project Centre office, including 2 days in our Slough office. You’ll also have access to our London office offering flexibility and an inspiring workspace.
The Role
As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering impactful projects that focus on traffic, cycling, walking, and public transport schemes. You’ll be supporting a variety of project types, from junctions and corridors to area-wide strategies, while contributing your technical expertise to help shape the future of transport and active travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support across a wide range of transport and active travel projects, including the design of traffic, cycling, walking, and public transport schemes.
- Take a leading role in the project management and financial delivery of schemes, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Check and review deliverables produced by junior staff, including reports and drawings.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior team members.
- Conduct weekly monitoring to track progress against key project indicators.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) systems and maintain up-to-date project files.
- Liaise with colleagues across disciplines to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions.
- Assist in developing Quality Assurance systems and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
- Respond promptly to client and customer enquiries, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism.
What We’re Looking For
- A relevant Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Solid understanding of highways and traffic engineering principles, including experience in traffic or highway design and delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of LTN 1/20, London Cycle Design Standards, TfL design guidance, the Traffic Signs Manual, and relevant British Standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, particularly in traffic sign and lining design.
- Familiarity with TMA 2004, CDM regulations, and other relevant legislation and design standards.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a professional institution such as MIHE, MICE, TPP, or MCIHT.
