We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Bridge Inspector to join our Operational team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional looking to further develop their structural inspection knowledge, programme management capabilities, and leadership experience within a dynamic environment.
Reporting to the Inspections Manager, you will be responsible for undertaking Principal and General Inspections in accordance with CS450 standards. The role combines both office and site-based responsibilities, including planning inspections, carrying out surveys, producing detailed reports, and supporting junior team members.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring inspections are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake General and Principal Inspections on a range of structures
- Carry out desktop studies and site surveys on structures
- Prepare and review RAMS documentation for inspections
- Promote and maintain safe working practices in line with company Health & Safety policies
- Organise plant, equipment, and inspection materials
- Produce inspection reports using systems such as Bridgestation, BCI forms, and traditional handwritten methods
- Monitor inspection progress against programme and cost targets
- Support KPI, QA, and reporting compliance to maintain high client satisfaction
- Lead inspection teams and deliver site briefings
- Supervise and mentor junior inspectors where appropriate
- Assist with weak bridge monitoring activities
- Attend and support network incidents and emergency response activities when required
We are looking for someone who is:
- Professional, reliable, and safety conscious

- Passionate about learning, development, and sharing knowledge with others
- Minimum 5 years’ experience scheduling, planning, and undertaking structures inspections
- Experience preparing detailed inspection reports
- Strong understanding of: Principal defects, concrete defects, steel defects, masonry defects, miscellaneous material defects
- Experience producing defect sketches and diagrams
- Full clean UK Driving Licence
- First Aid qualification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Confined Space Certificate
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) Certificate
- Civil Engineering qualification (ONC minimum, HNC/HND preferred)
