About The Role
As a
Highways Engineer , you\'ll play a key role in delivering a wide range of transportation and highway improvement schemes from concept through to detailed design.
You\'ll collaborate with experienced engineers, support junior colleagues, and contribute to projects that improve the way people travel.
We’re looking for someone with at least three years’ highways design experience, strong knowledge of UK standards including DMRB, Tf L Streetscape Guidance, LTN 1/20, LCDS and TSRGD, and confident ability using Auto CAD .
A Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) is essential, along with a solid understanding of delivering real-world design solutions in a live, urban environment.
You’ll be confident working with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, and comfortable applying CDM 2015 principles as part of a busy, collaborative project environment.
What you will be doing
- Producing highway and transportation designs from concept to detailed design stages.
- Preparing high-quality engineering drawings using Auto CAD.
- Undertaking site visits, surveys and data collection.
- Analysing information and producing technical reports.
- Designing road markings, traffic signs and highway layouts in line with current standards.
- Supporting and mentoring CAD Technicians, Graduates and Apprentices.
- Taking advantage of structured training and professional development opportunities to support your career progression.
What we are looking for
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the preparation of concept, outline and detailed design drawings including the full suite of drawings for all series.
- Good working knowledge of Auto CAD and ability to produce the full package for construction.
- Experience with geometric highway alignment design.
- A genuine interest in highways, transportation and infrastructure.

- Vehicle Tracking / Swept Path Analysis.
- On site construction experience.
- Site survey and site visit experience.
- Pavement design knowledge.
- MS Project experience.
- CSCS Card.
- Attained or working towards professional qualifications such as IEng, with demonstrable progress.
