This is a full‑time, permanent role working 44 hours per week.

What does our HGV Driver do?

The successful candidate will be trained to use our high‑tech equipment and carry out enforcement action on untaxed vehicles on behalf of the DVLA, including the recovery of unlicensed vehicles. You will learn how to operate within the guidelines established in current legislation and procedures and ensure that all members of the public are treated equally and fairly.

Duties

  • Attends a daily briefing and collects all removal information and reports relevant to the day’s work.
  • Ensures vehicle and equipment is serviceable and fit for purpose, reports all faults to the Pound Manager.
  • Carries out a physical examination of all lifting and towing equipment, and ensures the digital tachograph is operating correctly.
  • Checks to make sure the recovery vehicle is capable of removing the vehicles safely and informs the pound manager of any concerns.
  • Performs the safe removal of all vehicles, assigned either via the tablet PC or by telephone from the pound.
  • Ensures all photographs required of the vehicle are taken and completes a vehicle condition report, contacts the pound to confirm removal and requests the police are informed.
  • Delivers the vehicles to the pound, unloads and takes further photographs, requests next task from the office and repeats the process.
  • Can often work with other agencies, when required, including Police, DVLA and VOSA.
  • Deals with enquiries from the public regarding enforcement action and ensures the relevant information packs are available.
  • Is flexible in attitude to working hours and locations and is prepared to take on other roles temporarily as required by the operation.
  • Is presentable and displays high levels of personal integrity and honesty.
