We’re looking for an experienced Principal Bridge Engineer to join our growing highways and structures team. This is a great opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and highway schemes while playing a key role in project management, client engagement, and team development.
You’ll deliver and check concept to detailed designs, prepare calculations, reports, and drawings, and provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers. You’ll manage projects from proposal through to delivery, including budgets and programmes, while working closely with clients and stakeholders. The role also includes site inspections, planning safe systems of work, and fulfilling CDM duties, including acting as Principal Designer where required.
About you
- Accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- IEng or CEng qualified
- Strong technical background in bridge and highway structures
- Proven experience delivering designs and assessments to UK and Eurocodes
- Good working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW
- Confident using structural analysis software and AutoCAD
- Experience reviewing others’ work and working autonomously
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness of NEC contracts and change control
- Able to manage projects, budgets, and programmes effectively
- Collaborative team player with a desire to mentor and grow teams
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety and CDM duties
