This is a mid-level, hands-on role focused on building, maintaining and optimising the technical foundations that underpin the company's activity.

You will take ownership of core systems and processes across the studio, ensuring they are robust, efficient, well-documented and scalable. Working closely with creative, technical and production teams, you will help establish best practices, strengthen infrastructure and streamline the workflows that support development and delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, build and implement efficient systems for internal operations, identifying bottlenecks and introducing improvements to reduce friction and increase productivity.
  • Stay current with emerging AI tools, large language models and automation technologies, evaluating their practical application across studio systems and workflows.
  • Monitor and manage system health, ensuring uptime, stability and reliable performance across all in-studio environments.
  • Oversee, maintain and continuously improve the studio’s technical infrastructure, including networks, NAS, servers, render farm, backup workflows, demo spaces and internal IT systems.
  • Map, refine and document core studio processes: from asset management to machine setup, deployment workflows, and render procedures. Ensuring clarity, consistency and long-term scalability.
  • Ensure all infrastructure follows best-practice standards for security, redundancy, organisation, data hygiene and maintenance — including compliance with GDPR and UK data protection legislation.
Asset, Data & Workflow Management
  • Define and maintain structured digital asset management practices, including folder structures, naming conventions, backup cycles and versioning workflows.
  • Ensure project assets (digital and physical) are consistently organised, traceable and deployment-ready across their entire lifecycle.
  • Manage and optimise the studio’s digital storage ecosystem, including NAS, cloud storage and local machines, ensuring thoughtful capacity planning and efficient usage.
Operational Support & Systems Troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support to the internal team, resolving issues quickly while helping establish preventative measures to reduce future failures.
  • Develop or refine tools, scripts or automations that enhance workflow efficiency across teams.
  • Uphold documentation standards across equipment, systems, processes and infrastructure.
Project & Touring Systems Support
  • Support scalable, repeatable technical processes for project deployment, touring and installation, ensuring systems and assets are prepared, validated and tested.
  • Maintain structured logs, checklists and workflows for equipment prep, shipping, commissioning and maintenance.
  • Ensure all touring kits and technical packages are consistent, documented and aligned with system expectations.
  • Evaluate new technologies, tools and methodologies that could improve studio systems, technical workflows or operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to R&D by testing new hardware/software, gathering insights and advising on integration into existing systems.
  • Champion good systems thinking across the studio, helping others adopt improved workflows and best practices.
Qualifications Competencies and Experience
  • Proven experience in a technical systems role, within a creative or digital environment.
  • Proficiency in interactive and digital technologies, including VR/AR/MR, web and immersive / experiential media production processes.
  • A generalist understanding of programming languages / development pipelines.
  • Experience of building & maintaining infrastructure, IT system administration, technical support, or similar fields.
  • Applied experience of rendering - including rendering pipelines, infrastructure and relevant softwares & tools.
  • Skilled at scripting to enable efficient deployment and management of MLF work.
  • Understanding of computer systems at a component level.
  • Proficient in IT infrastructure troubleshooting, with intermediate knowledge of electrical hardware maintenance and support.

  • Experience with R&D methodologies and approaches.
  • Applied knowledge of game/real-time engines like Unity, Unreal Engine & VVVV / VL.
