The Senior Employee Relations Specialist is part of the European Employee Relations (ER) Centre of Expertise team, supporting the delivery of ER strategy and specialist services. This role will be based across Walsall PC and Rugby EComm sites but may require travel throughout the UK for the provision of ER support, as necessary.
Advisory
- Provide ER advice to HR Business Partners, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR policy/procedure.
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for ER case activity in Walsall and Rugby PC.
- Act as a point of escalation for HR Business Partners and the HR Service Centre (HRSC) Cases team.
- Support the Manager of ER with delegated ER cases raised by HR Business Partners.
- Lead on investigations for ER cases and partner effectively with HR Business Partners and business leaders.
- Complete data entry reporting for all ER cases within Service Now and provide monthly dashboards to HR Business Partners.
- Coach and advise the HR Service Centre (HRSC) Cases team with case queries.
- Review relevant case documentation, including letters, statements, and reports.
- Support the Manager Of ER with Early Conciliation processes.
- Escalate issues with potential financial or reputational risk to the Manager Of ER / AVP Head Of ER.
- Maintain and update knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation.
- Provide on-site, face-to-face support when required.
Tribunal Cases / Litigation
- Co-ordinate all tribunal claims and litigation processes with the internal Legal team and external legal providers.
- Conduct due diligence to gather all relevant information/documentation for claims.
- Assist with queries from the legal provider on points of policy/procedure relating to the claim.
- Support the Manager Of ER with approval of legal costs.
- Accompany the Manager Of ER to meetings on matters of case strategy.
- Attend tribunal hearings, where applicable.
- Maintain a record of all claims for the UK Stores and Loss Prevention.
Policy & Project Support
- Support the Manager Of ER and other HR/operational teams with relevant project activity.
- Support the ER Policy team with the ongoing review of UK policies and procedures.
- Review and provide feedback on proposed changes to policies.
- Support the implementation and communication plans of new or updated policies.
ER Upskilling
- Provide periodic updates to the HR Service Centre on upcoming changes to legislation and case law.
- Identify opportunities for the HR Service Centre on key themes to support improvement of ER capability.
- Support the Manager Of ER with the provision of employment law updates and knowledge sharing opportunities.
You’ll have previous experience of working in ER with a good degree of knowledge and experience in the UK (e.g. case management, HR policy, legal compliance) and be confident in the provision of advice. You’ll have great influencing skills and demonstrable ability to build relationships and engage with a range of cross-functional stakeholders to achieve results.
