The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Bricklayer - Kiln refractories and site maintenance Monday to Friday - Days (39 hours per week) Keele, Cheshire £13.60/hr plus benefits.

What's the role about? Working as part of our Maintenance Engineering team, responsibilities will be to ensure the kiln carts (and their refractory brick linings) used across the site to transport clay tiles during the drying / curing process are maintained to the highest standard. The condition of these is fundamental to the efficiency of the manufacturing process and is key to ensuring we meet our production targets whilst minimising losses. In addition to the kiln carts, you will be required to support with any site maintenance projects that need the skills of an experienced bricklayer (damaged walls or buildings for example).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, environment and quality management systems.
  • Proactively work to maintain the car fleet ensuring the operational lines are not adversely affected by the maintenance strategy employed.
  • Liaise with the Technical Dryer & Kiln Manager to ensure there is sufficient refractory stock available to meet the maintenance requirements.
  • Be standards driven and ensure the kiln cars are repaired effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure the work area under your direct control is maintained and kept clean and that the 5S standards are maintained.
  • Work within agreed site budgets.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Transfer kiln cars to and from repair bays.
  • Maintain focus on gold standards of safety at all times, constantly vigilant and pro-active in respect of recognising and reporting hazards, ensuring high levels of awareness and taking a continuous improvement approach to the working environment and safety behaviours in respect of self, colleagues and any other third parties/visitors.
  • Always seek to add value, applying lean principles wherever applicable.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous bricklaying experience is essential, (if you have refractory / kiln experience as well, all the better!)
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read plans and technical drawings would be advantageous.
  • Ability to analyse data presented, both written and graphically.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word & Excel).
