We now have a new opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our dynamic Business Finance Team. You will work closely with business leaders in our Landscaping & Building Products Business Units, driving growth and profitability.
This role is all about keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You will be at the heart of our efforts to ensure the Internal Control programme works as it should. You will be instrumental in assessing, challenging, and strengthening our Internal Control Framework, spanning Financial, Non-Financial, and IT general control categories. You will work closely with the Head of PRC, contributing to the development and ongoing management of a robust Internal Control framework that underpins the annual Board Declaration in our accounts.
As the go-to expert for control owners, you will provide advice, guidance, and recommendations for best practices, ensuring controls are effectively operated throughout the year. You will also help them identify areas for improvement, find ways to make things more efficient, and make sure our Risk and Control Matrices (RACMs) are always up to date. Your role will also involve coordinating the annual control self-certification exercise, analysing results, and documenting findings that drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration will be at the heart of what you do, as you support the delivery of the Internal Control strategy across the Group, working on exciting projects alongside stakeholders across the organisation. We are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex financial and non-financial concepts into clear, actionable insights. If you are passionate about maintaining high standards, driving improvements, and making a real impact within a forward-thinking company, this role is for you.
What skills are required?
- Finance degree or part-qualified Accountant (AAT, ACA, CIMA, or similar)
- Understanding of controls auditing, either Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO or similar control frameworks.
- Keen focus on accuracy, completeness, consistency, and efficiency of data handling.
- Familiar with risk management methodology, frameworks, and techniques.
- Commercial awareness; the ability to learn and understand the business units and structure work around the day-to-day requirements of all stakeholders.
- Confident user of technology, IT systems, and applications including Excel, data warehouses, and ERP systems (ideally Dynamics AX).
- A strong communicator at all levels. Enjoys working with detail and helping others to understand its relevance but can summarise details to aid understanding.
- Likes to challenge processes and practices that are inefficient or illogical. Constantly looks at ways of improving business processes.
- A strong motivation to achieve, a well-organised and structured approach.
- A positive and committed attitude, with the ability to collaborate with peers and stakeholders with enthusiasm and passion.
It would be advantageous if you have prior experience working within a strong controls environment (Sarbanes-Oxley or similar) or have controls/audit experience within a manufacturing business. These are our desirables and are NOT necessary for applying, but if you have it, great!
