Reporting directly to the Production Manager of a section within the manufacturing environment, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the SQCDP (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) of their allocated area of responsibility. Responsible for the management of a number of team leaders that will support the supervisor to achieve all key milestones and KPI’s.

The Production Supervisor shall provide leadership to the team and support team leaders in coordinating workloads, providing support, monitoring issues, and ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst fostering a safe working culture.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Adherence to project schedules and key delivery milestones.
  • Adherence to allocated project budgets.
  • Control of all technical documentation within the production environment.
  • Leading production meetings with key internal stakeholders.
  • Working with the planning department to maintain delivery targets.
  • Supporting the Production Manager in conducting interviews as required.
  • Promoting a safe working environment by delivering safety coaching conversations, reporting accidents, performing root cause analyses and implementation of preventative actions.
  • Ensuring full adherence to 5S practices.
  • Ensuring all local policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Build a relationship with team based on mutual trust; keep commitments and promises.
  • Willingly delegate tasks giving clear instructions; ensure the team are clear on their responsibilities.
  • Encourage others to come up with ideas and provide support even when not successful; learn from successes and failures.
  • Actively support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a facilitator to provide positive leadership when facing business challenges.
  • Supporting DFMA reviews to identify opportunities to optimise the design for manufacture and assembly.

  • Expertise in Manufacturing and Assembly processes and techniques.
  • Understanding of Production methods and processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and associated design data.
  • Competent written and verbal skills.
  • IT skills i.e. Word, Excel and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
  • Management Skills and ability to communicate and lead an individual or team.
  • The ability to identify the root cause of a problem and provide possible solutions; recognise similarities in patterns or data.

Education:

  • City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting or a Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
  • IOSH Managing safely certification is preferable however training could be provided.

Experience:

  • Vehicle Body Building, mechanical fitting, or equivalent trade.
  • Understand and competent in planning methods and skills.
  • Experience of leading a team, including team leaders.

Additional local needs:

  • This role is required to be based on-site full time.
  • There may be occasional travel.
  • There may be a need for flexibility to meet the needs of the projects as required.
