We are currently looking for an experienced Estimator to join an established and growing construction business based in Ipswich. This is an exciting opportunity for an Estimator looking to take the next step in their career and become an important part of a busy pre-construction and commercial team. You will have the opportunity to work on a varied range of projects, preparing accurate and competitive tenders from initial enquiry through to submission. The Role As an Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications before producing detailed and accurate cost estimates. You will undertake quantities and take-offs, assess labour, material, plant and subcontractor costs, and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. You will work closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, as well as liaising with clients, consultants and supply chain partners throughout the tender process. An important part of the role will be identifying potential risks and opportunities within each tender, ensuring estimates are commercially sound while remaining competitive. Once projects are secured, you will also assist with the handover of tender information to the project and commercial teams, helping to ensure a smooth transition from pre-construction into delivery. About You We are looking for someone with previous estimating experience within the construction industry who has a good understanding of construction methods, costs and commercial principles. You will be confident working from drawings and specifications and comfortable carrying out detailed cost analysis. Strong attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to manage several tenders and deadlines at the same time. You will also be a good communicator, able to build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and colleagues. Commercial awareness, a proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be important to your success in the role.
