About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our First Response team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing mechanical building services, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational with minimal disruption.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, responding to planned maintenance and urgent breakdowns across a wide range of systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair mechanical systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, water, gas, steam, and BMS
  • Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and recommission plant
  • Complete testing, inspections, and certification
  • Support installations and upgrades of mechanical services

Operational Duties

  • Respond to reactive maintenance and emergency breakdowns
  • Manage workload via CAFM system (INVIDA)
  • Keep stakeholders informed on progress and outcomes
  • Ensure minimal disruption to operations

Additional Duties

  • Participate in on-call rota
  • Assist with site surveys, planning, and project delivery
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers
  • Keep accurate records of work, materials, and time

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in mechanical building services maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex systems
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations
  • Experience leading or supporting teams on-site
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications (or equivalent experience)
