We now have an opportunity for a Senior Trade Control Manager who will be accountable for developing, documenting and controlling the framework within which Marshall operates to meet its compliance requirements within the areas of export and trade control. This includes the development of policy and process to drive compliance with UK, EU and U.S. export control laws and regulations applicable to our businesses operating in the aerospace and naval defence sectors. The role includes leadership of all trade control related activity within Marshall. It requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of understanding of the export control restrictions applicable in the UK and other countries with whom we trade.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining the Marshall Trade Control policies.
- Developing and maintaining an efficient export control compliance programme that addresses adequately the obligations placed upon Marshall while enabling the company to achieve its targeted results.
- Providing SME advice, support and coaching across the business from Corporate Governance, Security, Human Resources, Commercial, Procurement & Supply Chain to Shipping, QA and IT Departments.
- Leading efforts to ensure that business systems and processes are developed and maintained to include compliance with regulations that control exports & transfers of, and access to, controlled goods and technical data.
- Leading the Company's trade control compliance activity, keeping Marshall compliant and safe.
- Proactively monitoring Marshall wide activity to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Keeping up to date with market and governmental trends to ensure Marshall export control procedures and policies are aligned with all applicable regulatory requirements and offer the maximum benefit and protection to Marshall.

- Ability to lead, manage and inspire a team of SME professionals to deliver best practice Trade Control support and governance across the businesses.
- Experience in a senior hands-on trade control practitioner role.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, management and governance experience.
- Direct experience of successfully working with UK, EU and US trade control regimes, including ITAR and EAR.
- Recent and current knowledge of changes or amendments to trade control regimes that may influence the activities undertaken by Marshall.
- In depth understanding of Export regulatory developments and experience of communicating this effectively to senior personnel.
- Detailed knowledge of UK, US and EU export control regulations applicable to military and dual use items.
- An understanding of the 'order of review' and its application in export classification assessment of goods and related technical data against the UK Export Control Orders, 'EU Retained' and related legislation, and the U.S. ITAR and EAR regulations.
- An understanding of the UK DBT/ECJU export licence regime and UK HMRC/UKBF Customs procedures relating to export and import of restricted goods.
