Position Summary: Trainee Air Traffic Services Assistant – Cambridge City Airport.
Competitive salary and remuneration package including 27 days holiday, pension contributions matched up to 9%. Working on site in Cambridge.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs) in a safe manner within the ATC function.
- Operate as an assistant ensuring compliance with the Aerodrome Safety Management System and Change Management processes where applicable.
- Embrace the company’s Safety Culture and report occurrences not captured by the MOR scheme or other safety-related information perceived as a potential hazard to aviation safety.
- Operate to the unit ATSA training plan in conjunction with MATA & C, aiming to meet milestones prior to unsupervised operational duty.
- Prepare and disseminate meteorology observations and aeronautical information for the benefit of controllers and aircraft pilots.
- Assist controllers in providing a safe, expeditious, and orderly flow of aircraft movements.
- Post‑employment, obtain a Meteorological Observers qualification to enable the preparation and dissemination of meteorology observations.
- Pass information to other staff on aircraft movements, flight bookings, Royal Flights, navigation warnings, and other airspace activity; send flight plans and departure slot related messages to external agencies.
- In the event of an aircraft emergency, make 999 calls and follow the ATC Actions within the Airport Emergency Plans.
- Participate in operating the Air Traffic Services simulator.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- UK driving licence and good colour perception.
- Prior experience in an air‑traffic environment (desirable).
- Prior experience managing a small team (desirable).
- Security clearance required; GSAT approval required.
- Occasional business travel.
- Physically able to access stairs (to access the Visual Control Room in the ATC tower).
- Risk/hazard analysis training.
