As Quality Manager, you know quality doesn’t start when an audit is booked. It starts long before that. On the shop floor. In the conversations you have. The standards you set. The people you develop. That’s the sort of Quality Manager they’re looking for. The technical capability is already there. What they’re looking for now is someone who’ll bring it all together. Someone who’ll strengthen the Quality Management System, develop the people around them and become part of a Senior Leadership Team helping shape the future of the business.
You’ll lead a team of ten through three direct reports, including a Quality Control Manager and two Quality Engineers. Quality doesn’t sit in one department. It works alongside Production, Sales, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers. You’ll become part of a Senior Leadership Team where you’ll have a seat at the table. Your opinion will matter and you’ll be expected to contribute to the wider success of the business, not just the Quality department.
You’ll bring a lot of this with you:
- Experience leading and developing a Quality Management System.
- Confidence managing internal, customer and third-party audits.
- The ability to develop people just as much as improve systems.
- A natural instinct to find the root cause, not just the immediate fix.
- The confidence to challenge in the right way without creating conflict.
- Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where quality, traceability and documentation are just as important as the finished product.
Your focus will include:
- Developing and improving the Quality Management System.
- Leading audits and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 whilst developing the business's API Q1 capability.
- Driving continuous improvement and root cause investigations.
- Working closely with Production, Engineering and Inspection to continually raise standards.
- Supporting customers, suppliers and the wider business on all aspects of quality.
You’re the sort of Quality Manager who’ll sit down with the Sales Manager and ask, “What do you need from Quality next year? Which approvals or accreditations will help us win more business? How can my team help yours grow?” Because you understand that quality doesn’t just protect the business...It helps it grow.
Experience of API standards would be a real advantage. Perhaps you’ve worked within fasteners, critical bolting or the oil and gas sector where traceability is everything. If not, you’ll already have built your career within a fast-paced metals or manufacturing environment where customers expect both the product and the paperwork to be right first time. Maybe you’re a Senior Quality Engineer who’s ready to take that next step into management. If you’ve got the technical credibility, confidence around audits and Quality Management Systems and the leadership qualities they’re looking for, they’ll invest in your API Q1 development.
What’s in it for you?
- Salary from £50,000, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
- API Q1 training and ongoing professional development.
- The opportunity to shape the future of the Quality function.
If you’re looking for a Quality Manager role where your technical expertise and leadership are equally valued, where you’ll develop people, influence the wider business and help shape the future of a growing manufacturer, let’s have a conversation.
