Some people love doing the same job every day.

This isn’t one of those jobs.

As SHEQ & Compliance Coordinator, you’ll have two important sides to your role. Keeping the business safe and compliant, and making sure the HR side is just as well looked after.

And in a smaller industrial business, the two naturally cross over more than you might think.

You’ll be keeping on top of SHEQ compliance, supporting Health & Safety across the site and making sure policies, procedures and records are where they need to be.

Then there’s the people side.

You'll look after HR compliance and administration, from contracts and employee records through to policies, absence, onboarding and making sure the business is following the right processes.

And you’ll be doing all of this in a genuinely lovely business to work for.

It’s a friendly, down-to-earth team where people know each other and support each other.

If someone needs a hand, people step in.

If you’ve got a question, there’ll be someone happy to help.

It’s that sort of place.

That’s particularly important in this role because you’ll get to know everyone across the business, from the office team to the people out on site.

You’ll become someone people know they can come to, whether that’s with an HR question or something relating to Health & Safety.

The current SHEQ Manager is starting to wind down after many years with the business, which means you’ll have something increasingly rare.

A proper handover.

You’ll have time to understand how things work, get to know the people and gradually take more ownership of the SHEQ side rather than being expected to walk through the door knowing everything on day one.

You will, however, need a NEBOSH qualification. That’s essential.

You’ll also need to be comfortable with HR compliance.

You don’t necessarily need to have had SHEQ & HR Coordinator written on your job title before, but you’ll understand the importance of getting the detail right when you’re dealing with employees, legislation and compliance.

You’ll probably recognise yourself here

  • You’re NEBOSH qualified.
  • You’ve worked with SHEQ, Health & Safety or compliance within manufacturing, engineering, recycling or a similar industrial environment.
  • You have experience supporting HR processes and understand HR compliance.
  • You’re organised enough to keep on top of the paperwork, but comfortable getting out into the business too.
  • You’re approachable and enjoy being someone people feel comfortable coming to.
  • You like variety and being part of a smaller team where everyone helps each other.

As SHEQ & HR Coordinator, you won’t be tucked away doing paperwork for the sake of paperwork. You’ll be part of the wider business and someone the team genuinely relies on.

And over time, as the current SHEQ Manager steps away, there’s the opportunity for the SHEQ & HR Coordinator to take greater ownership and really make the SHEQ side their own.

What’s in it for you?

  • Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays.
  • A proper handover from the current SHEQ Manager.
  • A varied SHEQ & HR Coordinator position covering both SHEQ and HR compliance.
  • The opportunity to grow into greater responsibility as the current Manager moves towards retirement.
  • A genuinely friendly business where people look out for each other and you’ll quickly feel part of the team.

If you’re NEBOSH qualified and looking for somewhere you can use your SHEQ and HR experience, but the people you spend Monday to Friday with matter just as much as the job itself, I’d love to tell you more.
