Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site safety, health, environmental and quality inspections across multiple projects.
- Maintain and continually improve the company’s Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Coordinate and support external certification and surveillance audits.
- Drive continual improvement initiatives through a structured internal auditing programme.
- Organise and manage the company's Occupational Health programme.
- Maintain certification to SSIP schemes and trade body accreditations, including Constructionline, Safe Contractor, SMAS, Gas Safe and others as required.
- Produce Construction Phase Plans, Traffic Management Plans, Fire Plans and other SHEQ documentation for projects.
- Provide practical SHEQ advice and guidance to operational staff, management teams and clients.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, enforcing authorities and external auditors.
- Attend client meetings, progress meetings and pre-start meetings as required.
- Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Manage RIDDOR reporting requirements and maintain associated records.
- Plan, coordinate and maintain employee training and competency records.
- Maintain and review company policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Carry out internal audits and monitor the close-out of corrective actions.
- Monitor subcontractor SHEQ compliance and standards.
- Support tender submissions, PQQ responses and client compliance questionnaires.
- Deliver SHEQ briefings, toolbox talks and company inductions where required.
- Monitor environmental compliance, waste management and pollution prevention measures on sites.
- Maintain SHEQ statistics, KPI reporting and management reports.
- Promote a positive SHEQ culture throughout the business.
Requirements
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) essential.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Previous SHEQ management experience within the construction sector essential.
- Excellent knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations 2015.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Strong organisational, communication, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Full UK Driving Licence essential.
- Experience maintaining SSIP and trade body accreditations.
- Experience preparing Construction Phase Plans and project-specific SHEQ documentation.
- Experience working with principal contractors and major clients.
