The Electrical Fitter is responsible for the installation, assembly, and integration of electrical systems and components within specialist manufactured products. Working within a production environment, the role ensures electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.

The Electrical Fitter contributes directly to achieving Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) objectives by delivering high-quality electrical builds that meet production schedules and customer requirements. Working as part of a multidisciplinary production team, the Electrical Fitter ensures all work is carried out to the highest professional and technical standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities in this role include:

  • Install electrical systems, wiring looms, harnesses, and components in accordance with engineering drawings, build documentation, and work instructions.
  • Carry out electrical assembly, routing, termination, and connection of wiring and electrical equipment.
  • Support the integration of electrical systems into mechanical assemblies and vehicle platforms where applicable.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with the agreed production schedule and daily build plan.
  • Use appropriate hand tools, electrical test equipment, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify and report build issues, defects, or deviations from specification to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Assist with electrical fault finding and rectification during build and test activities.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed to a high standard and ready for inspection or testing.
  • Carry out all tasks in accordance with safe systems of work and health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Identify hazards and report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Support the company's commitment to maintaining a safe production environment.
  • Ensure electrical installations comply with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and company standards.
  • Complete all build documentation, check sheets, and quality records accurately.
  • Support quality inspections and testing processes.
  • Identify non-conformances and assist with corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure right-first-time build quality.
  • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve electrical installation processes, efficiency, and build quality.
  • Participate in Lean activities including 5S, standard work, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Support improvements that enhance safety, productivity, and delivery performance.
  • Carry out electrical installation work within the scope of approved engineering documentation.
  • Raise technical or quality concerns to the Team Leader or Supervisor where required.
  • Provide feedback on build processes and potential improvements.
  • Support resolution of electrical issues during production builds.

Technical skills/qualifications:

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or similar discipline - desirable.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation - desirable.
  • Relevant electrical safety training - desirable.
