We are now looking for an Aerospace Buyer on an 18 month fixed term contract to take on the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Senior Buyer
  • Performing routine day-to-day activities associated with the products and services administering and expediting purchase orders
  • Managing MRP requirements to satisfy production schedules and implementation of appropriate recovery plans
  • Shortage reporting and resolution
  • Receiving Bills of Materials and carrying out system checks on materials and services to be supplied to projects and shipping requirements
  • Negotiating with suppliers obtaining best price and lead times, resolving any supply chain issues
  • Liaising with customers/suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues
  • Providing input to project meetings to answer questions concerning contract/supply chain matters
  • Monitoring and measuring process performance producing regular and accurate management information/reports as required
  • Adhering to a range of standard procedures and precedents to solve problems which arise, with instruction direction and guidance available from others

  • Ability to build supplier relationships and engage with suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills with a good understanding of techniques that drive Quality/cost improvement
  • Manufacturing procurement experience (including reading technical drawings, engineering background preferred)
  • Experience with Supplier KPI’s and performance management
  • Ability to draft standard letters and responses
  • Proficient use of MS applications with good understanding of MRP and other planning systems
  • Good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
  • ‘Lateral’ thinker – someone who can find solutions for problems and ‘think outside the box’
